🇺🇸 Pepper Bridge "Trine" Walla Walla Valley, WA 2011
🍷Pepper Bridge has been making wine in the Walla Walla Valley for 20 years under winemaker Jean François Pellet, who is also a partner in the winery along with the McKibben and Goff families. Innovators, they were the first winery in WA (and still only 1 of 2) to use a gravity flow system. The importance of gravity flow vs pumping over is how gentle the process is on the berries. During the winemaking process if you crush the seeds or rip the skins, which pumping over inevitably will do, a certain level of bitterness is imparted in the final product. The berries used in Trine are 100% Estate fruit coming from 2 vineyards and the winery itself is certified sustainable. The nose has intense and concentrated notes of blackberry, currant, coffee, plum, and unmistakable Walla Walla minerality. The palate is rich with elegant tannins and juicy acidity.
