🇫🇷 Guy Amiot et Fils Burgundy Rouge Chassagne Montrachet Vieilles Vignes 2012
🍷Aresene Amiot started the house in 1920 and it remains a family operated business to this day. Thierry Amiot is the fourth generation proprietor and took over operations from his father, Guy, in 2003. Amiot produces many Premier Cru wines around Chassagne Montrachet, each one with its own personality but also focuses on Pinot Noir in Chassagne Montrachet. This is one of our favorite red Burgundys due to its extreme value. It’s very hard to find outstanding Burgundy at this price point but this wine does not let down! This wine is light ruby in color and has characteristics of bright, crisp, red fruit. Sweet baking spices are also present due to French oak maturation. Other tertiary characteristics that have developed over the last six years include hints of forest floor, leather, and dried mushrooms. This wine has a medium body and well integrated smooth tannins. The finish for this wine is exceptionally long, this wine is ready to drink now but can also age for the next 3-8 years. Pair this with grilled duck and a creamy mushroom risotto.
